WEA in the News: Studio veteran Chris McGurk seeks $7.95 million for modern Malibu home
Studio veteran Chris McGurk is ready to make another change to his home lineup. The chief executive of Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp., who quietly sold his Beverly Hills estate for $16 million earlier this year, has put his Malibu home back on the market for $7.95 million.
Sitting on 65 feet of ocean frontage in the desirable Encinal Bluffs area, the Marshall Lewis-designed house is visually dramatic. Bold geometric sections are topped by a protruding copper roof for a distinctive look. A motor court with a circular turnstile fronts the property.
Inside, nearly 5,650 square feet of polished space includes an oversized kitchen, a living room with a steel-clad fireplace, a formal dining room, an elevator, six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. The master suite, with a fireplace and a black granite-lined bath, opens to a private sun deck.
The lower level invites with an entertainment room, an indoor lap pool, a Jacuzzi and a sauna. Unobstructed views extend up and down the coastline.
McGurk bought the house more than a decade ago for $6.675 million, records show.
Mark Gruskin and Stephen Shapiro of Westside Estate Agency hold the listing.
The 69-year-old McGurk is a longtime film and television executive who previously served as the president of Walt Disney Studios and COO of MGM. He was named chairman and CEO of Cinedigm in 2011.
