LA’s Priciest Neighborhoods of 2017
As Southern California’s most populous city, LA is home to some of the most luxurious and upscale neighborhoods, many of which have been featured on the 2017 list of priciest neighborhoods in LA. Real estate data provider, PropertyShark, compiled a list of 50 neighborhoods within the LA area that yielded some of the highest median prices of homes sold within 2017. In their research, PropertyShark discovered that Malibu neighborhoods and Beverly Hills neighborhoods took the top spots on the list.
Malibu and Beverly Hills Real Estate Lead The Way
In comprising a list of the 50 most expensive LA neighborhoods of 2017, PropertyShark noticed a common trend: beachfront properties are at the top of the list.

The Colony – Malibu
Snagging the number one spot on the list was The Colony, a gated enclave that’s located right on the coast of Malibu. The median sales price for homes in this upscale area reached $13 million. This neighborhood provides residents with optimum privacy and is even home to some of Hollywood’s elite such as Tom Hanks, Rob Reiner, and John McEnroe.

Trousdale Estates – Beverly Hills
Claiming the number two spot on the list of LA’s priciest neighborhoods of 2017 is Beverly Hills’ Trousdale Estates. The mid-century to modern homes in this enclave have a median sales price of $9.3 million. This median sales price is actually 18% higher than the 2016 average. Dating back to the 1950s, Trousdale Estates was developed for wealthy buyers who were in the market for custom-made homes and even hired renowned architects such as A. Quincy Jones, Richard Dorman, Paul R. Williams, and Cliff May.

Carbon Mesa – Malibu
Next on the list, claiming the number three spot is Malibu’s Carbon Mesa. Carbon Mesa had a median sales price of $8.5 million.

Beverly Hills Gateway
After the beautiful area of Carbon Mesa is Beverly Hills Gateway. This is an area that’s north of Sunset Boulevard and south of Beverly Hills Post Office. Taking the number four spot, Beverly Hills Gateway boasted an $8.02 million median sales price. Surprisingly, this average was a 24% drop from last year’s stats.

Malibu Cove Colony
Moving to the number 5 spot on the list of LA’s priciest neighborhoods of 2017 is the breathtaking beachfront neighborhood of Malibu Cove Colony. This luxurious gated community had a 20% rise from last year’s median price to a staggering $8 million.
