Tom Ford Sells Modernist Los Angeles Home for $20 Million
Fashion designer, filmmaker and real estate connoisseur Tom Ford parted with his Los Angeles home earlier this month for $20 million, according to property records.
Designed by famed modernist architect Richard Neutra, the Brown-Sidney House is nestled in the winding hills of Bel Air, close to the enclave’s country club. M
The home has all the characteristics of a typical home by Neutra, who was famed for his Southern California buildings, which were geometric, with boxy frames of steel and glass and open-plan layouts.
Built in 1955, the house has three bedrooms and six bathrooms, according to limited information available online about the home.
The 3,795-square-foot property was acquired by Mr. Ford in 1997 for a pinch over $2 million, property records show.
Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency represented Mr. Ford in the deal and declined to comment on the sale.
Mr. Ford, 58, has an enviable real estate collection that includes a 10,000-square-foot Holmby Hills, California, estate—once home to the late socialite and philanthropist Betsy Bloomingdale—that he paid $38.75 million for in 2016. He’s also still the owner of a sprawling New Mexico ranch that encompasses approximately 20,662 acres, making it larger than Manhattan.
On the market for $48 million, the ranch includes Silverado Movie Town, an Old West set built as the backdrop for the 1985 film “Silverado,” plus a horse barn, riding arenas and two private guest houses. Mr. Ford, who launched his eponymous luxury brand in 2006, previously worked as creative director for Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, and directed the Academy Award-nominated films “A Single Man” (2009) and “Nocturnal Animals” (2016). A representative for the designer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
