Dirt: L.A. Reid Spins Swanky LA Mansion Back Onto the Market
Way back in late 2019, L.A. Reid hoisted his ultra-contemporary Bel Air mansion onto the market for $22.9 million. The Grammy-winning record producer and current Hitco Entertainment co-chair — best known for top-tier talents like Mariah Carey, Usher, Kanye West and Justin Bieber — had no takers, so the property was eventually delisted. But now it’s popped back up once again, this time with a slimmed-down $21.9 million ask.
Reid purchased the hillside residence for $18 million in 2016, shortly after construction was completed, and undertook a bespoke tailoring of the premises to suit his needs. Built in 2015, the gated estate rests on just over an acre of land atop a promontory, just below the Stone Canyon Reservoir, and comes complete with floor-to-ceiling walls of glass providing sweeping canyon and city lights views.
Standing three stories tall, the stucco and stone-accented structure boasts seven bedrooms and 8.5 baths sprawled across a little more than 11,200 square feet of living space. Glitzy amenities include an elevator, four fireplaces, a 300-bottle wine cellar, gym and crimson-hued movie theater with wet bar.
A gated driveway lined with towering ficus trees fronts the home, which boasts an eye-catching front door that opens into a double-height foyer topped with a striking windchime-like chandelier. Grand-scale rooms throughout are punctuated by soaring ceilings, stone and white oak floors, black granite walls and chrome accents.
Particularly standing out on the main level is a large great room divided by a massive two-way fireplace. There’s also a fireside office/library with built-in bookshelves and cabinetry, formal dining room, and sleekly designed kitchen outfitted with dual islands and high-end appliances.
A striking sculptural staircase heads to the upstairs master retreat, which is decked out with a fireplace, balcony, and luxe bath equipped with a soaking tub, glass-encased shower and sauna. Four additional bedroom suites can also be found on the upper level, along with two lower-level bedrooms.
As for the grounds, they hold an infinity pool and separate spa flanked by a grassy lawn and sundeck, as well as an entertainment area sporting a fireside conversation pit, kitchen and bar, and hot tub. Rounding it all out: a subterranean parking garage that can accommodate up to four vehicles.
