WEA in the LA Times

Doc Rivers is trading life at the Beverly West Residences for something a little more traditional.

The Clippers head coach, who put his condominium unit at the Westwood high-rise on the market in September, has purchased a compound in Hollywood Hills West for $8.2 million.

The Hamptons-inspired gated retreat includes a high-ceilinged main house of nearly 3,950 square feet, a glassand- steel guest house, a swimming pool and an infinity spa. A seating area with a fire pit sits beside an outdoor kitchen, a bar and the spa, which appears to drop off the side of the lot.

Expansive cityscape and ocean views create a backdrop for the outdoor entertaining area.

Among the living spaces are living, family and dining rooms, a den, a library/study, a bar, a breakfast room, an office, four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. The guest house has an additional 1,845 square feet.

Built in 1961, the house was redesigned since it last changed hands in 2007 for $5.4 million.

Rivers, who turned 53 last month, is now in his sophomore season with the Clippers. He previously served as head coach of the Magic and the Celtics, earning NBA coach of the year honors (2000) with the former and a championship (2008) with the latter.

Jon Bronson and Mary Swanson of Westside Estate Agency represented Rivers.

As for Rivers’ Beverly West condo, the 3,813-square-foot residence, which features a chef’s kitchen and views of the Los Angeles Country Club, currently lists at $6.595 million. Bronson and Swanson of Westside Estate Agency hold the listing.
